Ryan Leary

Born Reno, Nevada; admitted to Nevada bar (2009); California bar (2012); U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada (2011); U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California (2013); U.S. District Court, Northern District of California (2017), and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit (2012).

Education: University of Nevada, Reno (B.A. International Affairs, 2005); William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (J.D., magna cum laude, 2009).

Member:  State Bar of Nevada; Washoe County Bar Association (Sergeant at Arms); American Bar Association; American Inns of Court, Bruce R. Thompson Chapter, Master.  Selected one of Northern Nevada’s Top Attorneys by Nevada Business magazine (2018-2019).

Mr. Leary joined Laxalt & Nomura in 2011 after working as the Judicial Law Clerk for The Honorable Steven P. Elliot, Second Judicial District Court, State of Nevada (2009 – 2011). Since joining Laxalt & Nomura in 2011, Mr. Leary has litigated a wide range of cases, including those involving legal and professional malpractice, board discipline, business disputes involving members and shareholders, contractual disputes, securities related litigation, personal injury matters, products defect, trucking, hotel and casino security, and homeowners associations.  He has defended professional liability cases for multiple insured. Mr. Leary has also defended wrongful death and serious injury cases on behalf of property owners, hotel/casinos, hospitals, and product manufacturers.  Mr. Leary has also handled multiple appeals before the Nevada Supreme Court.

Mr. Leary is an avid enthusiast of the outdoors who enjoys biking, hiking, snowboarding, and running throughout the greater Reno/Tahoe area. Mr. Leary is also a large baseball fan and currently assists coaching his children in their athletic endeavors.
