Born Osceola, Iowa; admitted to bar 1994, Missouri and U.S. District Court, Western District of Missouri; 1995, Kansas U.S. District Court, District of Kansas; 1996, Nevada, U.S. District Court, District of Nevada, and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.

Mr. Hayward began his career as an associate with the Kansas City firm of Morrison & Hecker, LLP after graduating with High Distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law.  Since joining Laxalt & Nomura in 1996, he has litigated a wide range of cases, including those involving legal and professional malpractice, business disputes, personal injury, defamation, insurance bad faith, and product liability.  He has litigated professional liability cases on behalf of insureds of Chicago Insurance Company, ALPS, and Lawyer’s Protector Plan.  Mr. Hayward has also defended wrongful death and serious injury cases on behalf of property owners, hotel casinos, automobile dealerships and manufacturers.  He has tried twenty-three jury and bench trials at the district court level, including fifteen jury trials.  He served as the firm’s President from 2009 until 2018.

Mr. Hayward has been a Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada volunteer since Fall 2014, and a member of the Board of Directors of Friends of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada since 2015.  Since 2011 Mr. Hayward has served as volunteer outside counsel for Nevada Bighorns Unlimited, a non-profit wildlife conservation and hunting organization.  He is an active member of the National Auto Sports Association and the Sports Car Club of America.  Mr. Hayward coached U9 through U15 boys’ soccer through the Great Basin Youth Soccer League for six years, and has been an active participant in the Sierra Nevada Soccer Association adult soccer league since 2007.
